Today, Monday December 2nd, Hockey Canada announced the roster that will be participating in Team Canada’s selection camp for the World Ju

nior Hockey Tournament starting on December 26 in Sweden. The only surprise today, is the number of kids that they invited to the selection camp, only 25 players have been invited which means they will only have to cut 3 players after the camp that runs from December 12th to December 15th.

What’s even more surprising is that only 2 goaltenders were invited to the camp, so they basically already made the cut and can mentally prepare to play for Team Canada in Sweden. The cuts that will have to be done are 1 Defence and 2 Forwards. A young kid that has to prove that he’s ready to play with the big guys is Connor McDavid, he’s only 16 but already at his second year in the OHL(he was eligible to play at 15). He’ll probably get cut because the roster already has scorers and playmakers so it will be a good preparation for next year.

Surprisingly the Minnesota Wild allowed Mathew Dumba to play for team Canada this year, which will be a big asset for the defence squad because of his NHL experience. Rarely an NHL allows their eligible players to go play in this tournament so don’t count on seeing Nathan MacKinnon or other guys that are in the NHL now.

So here’s the selection camp roster, it’s not going to change that much so you can figure our top lines by just looking at this roster.
